SIPD (Southern Institute of Peace-building and Development) is a research and training organisation on issues at the intersection of peace and development in Africa, primarily targeting peace and development actors and activists. It works with like-minded civil society organisations, social movements, media houses, academic and research institutions, and governmental bodies. The organisation is registered as a trust with the Government of Zimbabwe and is based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The vision of the Institute is to be the go-to institution on issues at the intersection of peace and development in Africa.
Its mission is to imbue peace and development actors and activists in Africa with high level critical consciousness on issues at the intersection of peace and development on the continent. The Institute does this by carrying out interdisciplinary research, policy dialogues, training and information dissemination, in collaboration with like-minded individuals, organisations and institutions in Africa and across the globe.
